After Aespa’s first performance of “Supernova” on “M Countdown,” Korean internet users (K-Netz) weren’t happy with how Giselle looked. The group came back on May 16 and sang “Supernova” on Mnet’s popular music show.

Despite a fire breaking out midway through the pre-recording, aespa managed to deliver a high-energy performance, which was met with enthusiastic fan chants from their supporters, known as MYs.

The performance quickly became a hot topic on various online communities, where fans and K-Netz discussed not only their vocal and dance skills but also their visual appeal.

Members NingNing, Winter, and Karina received significant praise for their appearance. NingNing was highlighted for her style and beauty, which were seen as fitting well with the group’s concept. Winter and Karina were lauded for their AI-like appearances.

However, Giselle did not receive the same level of compliments. Instead, some K-Netz criticized her appearance, leading to fat-shaming comments.

In addition to performing “Supernova,” Aespa released the music video for their B-side track, “Licorice,” on the same day. “Licorice” is described as a dance song with a strong beat, expressing the feeling of being attracted to someone with a strange charm.

The full sound source will be released on May 27, coinciding with the launch of aespa’s first full-length album, “Armageddon.” The album will feature ten songs, including the double title track.
