Debate Erupts Over BLACKPINK’s Concert Ticket Prices

As BLACKPINK gears up for their much-anticipated world tour and summer comeback, a heated discussion has emerged among fans regarding the ticket prices for their upcoming concert at Goyang Stadium.

Ticket prices for the event range from 275,000 won (around $197 USD) for premium seats to 132,000 won (about $95 USD) for lower-tier tickets.

These prices have sparked debates on social media, with many netizens expressing surprise and frustration over what they perceive as high ticket costs for a K-pop concert.

Arguments for High Prices

Some fans have defended the ticket prices, arguing that BLACKPINK’s global success and popularity justify the premium rates.

One supporter commented,

“Even if it’s expensive, I’m still glad I managed to get a ticket,” while another pointed out that BTS often performs for three hours, making it easier to justify the higher price for longer show times.

There are also comments acknowledging that BLACKPINK, being at the top of the K-pop world, deserves to command these higher prices, stating,

“Someone like BLACKPINK should be getting paid this much.”

Criticism Over Prices

On the flip side, many fans are frustrated by the prices, particularly given that BLACKPINK’s concert will likely be shorter than other major performances. One critic noted,

“If the tickets are going to be this expensive, then BLACKPINK should at least perform for three hours. But it looks like the concert isn’t even going to be two hours long.”

Another point of contention is the comparison with international acts.

Some fans pointed out that Coldplay’s recent South Korea concert had more affordable ticket prices, despite being a longer performance, and that K-pop concerts in general have become excessively expensive compared to foreign artists.

Mixed Feelings on Social Media

Despite the differing opinions, some commenters seemed to suggest that fans upset about the prices may just be using it as an opportunity to express dislike towards BLACKPINK. One user commented,

“People complaining about the ticket price obviously just want an excuse to hate on BLACKPINK.”

In contrast, others argued that these high prices were becoming the new norm for K-pop concerts, with one remarking,

“These days, concert prices are usually over 100,000 won, which is already infuriating. But this is just not right…”
