BTS Tops Survey as Korea’s Representative Singer

In a recent 2024 survey titled “Who is the representative singer of Korea?” BTS has emerged as the unanimous choice among South Koreans. The survey, which gathered responses from a thousand individuals spanning various age groups and regions, highlighted BTS as the most frequently mentioned artist across all demographics. From teenagers to seniors, BTS secured the top spot as the most representative singer, reflecting their widespread appeal and influence.

This recognition comes amid BTS’s ongoing global success and cultural impact. The group continues to break records with their music, most recently with their hit single “Butter” topping charts worldwide. Additionally, individual members like RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have also been active in various solo projects along with completing their mandatory military service and collaborations, further solidifying their status as icons of Korean music and culture.

According to the survey, 61% of respondents named BTS as their top choice. Following BTS, other frequently mentioned artists included Cho Yong Pil and Lim Young Woong, each with 21% of the votes. Na Hoon Ah was also a popular choice, securing 20%.

BLACKPINK and IU were among the other top artists, with 18% and 16% of the votes, respectively. NewJeans and Psy were also notable mentions, with 12% and 10% of respondents choosing them. Additionally, Lee Mi Ja was favoured by 10% of the participants.

Interestingly, the survey highlighted that 6 out of 10 teenagers aged 18 and 19 chose BTS as their answer. This demonstrates the group’s significant impact on younger audiences, further solidifying their status as Korea’s leading musical representatives.

Other artists who received less than 10% of the votes included Nam Jin, IVE, aespa, and Lee Hyori, among others. Despite the lower percentages, these artists still hold notable recognition in the Korean music scene.

BTS’s dominance in the survey highlights its widespread appeal and recognition as Korea’s representative singer. The results reflect the group’s ability to connect with audiences of all ages, solidifying their place at the forefront of the Korean music industry..
