On May 13, 2025, MONSTA X’s Hyungwon officially completed his mandatory military service, marking a highly anticipated moment for fans (MONBEBE) and the K-pop industry alike.
After serving diligently for one year and six months in the Capital Mechanized Infantry Division in Gapyeong County, Hyungwon has been discharged in good health and with honors—including an early promotion to corporal for his exemplary performance.
Hyungwon initially enlisted on November 14, 2023, joining the ranks of fellow MONSTA X members who had already fulfilled their national duties.
With his discharge, he becomes the fifth member of the group to return from military service, following Shownu, Minhyuk, Joohoney, and Kihyun.

To celebrate his return, Hyungwon shared heartfelt words with fans via MONSTA X’s official social media accounts, posting:
“MONBEBE, I missed you. Thanks to MONBEBE who waited for me, I was able to finish my service in good health. Let’s see each other for a long time going forward.”
He accompanied the message with a series of photos, showing him smiling in uniform and expressing deep appreciation for the unwavering support of MONBEBE during his time away.
What’s Next for Hyungwon and MONSTA X?
Hyungwon’s discharge couldn’t have come at a better time. He is already scheduled to host the Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) 2025, a significant event that hints at his swift return to the entertainment scene.
Additionally, MONSTA X will be celebrating their 10th debut anniversary this year—an important milestone for the group and fans alike.
Adding to the excitement, MONSTA X is also confirmed to perform at KCON LA 2025, signaling the group’s reactivation as a unit.
With Hyungwon back, fans are eagerly awaiting potential music releases, group appearances, and anniversary projects that will mark a new chapter for the long-running boy group.
A Step Closer to Full Reunion
With only one member—I.M—left without military enlistment (as of current updates), MONSTA X is now closer than ever to a full-team comeback.
Fans around the world are expressing excitement and emotional support online, sharing well-wishes, fan art, and messages of welcome for Hyungwon.
Hyungwon’s return signifies more than just the end of military service—it’s a symbolic reawakening of MONSTA X’s next era, blending their rich 10-year history with new opportunities on global stages.
