On April 6 KST, BoA took to Instagram to share a story update, stirring confusion among her fans.

The singer wrote,

“Once the contract ends, I can leave, right??”

Initially, the post sparked uproar as many misinterpreted it to read “은퇴 (eun-twae)” or “retire.”

However, upon closer examination, fans realized she had written “운퇴 (woon-twae),” a non-existent word.

Speculations arose; some saw it as a shorthand for “leaving the gym” or “leaving [a] workout.” Others questioned if it was a typo, possibly intended as “retire.”

Earlier that day, she had expressed gratitude to her junior, SHINee’s Onew, for a handmade keychain gift.

She has now clarified her earlier post with another update, writing,

“It looks like I misspelled a word. I meant retire.”
