TVING’s popular variety series ‘Great Escape’ is set to return for its sixth season, with production and filming scheduled for 2026. The show originally aired on tvN before moving to the streaming platform, and has built a dedicated fanbase since its 2018 debut for its time-transcending escape-room adventures. Season 5, titled ‘The Great Escape: The Story,’ featured Kang Ho Dong, Kim Dong Hyun, Yoo Byung Jae, Go Kyung Pyo, Baekhyun, and Yeo Jin Goo, under the direction of Lee Woo Hyung.
However, actor Yeo Jin Goo will be absent for Season 6 as he continues his military service, having enlisted last year for KATUSA duty. His departure has prompted questions about possible changes in the rest of the cast, with TVING reportedly in discussions with remaining and potential new celebrities. The series originally gained acclaim under PD Jung Jong Yeon, known for ‘The Genius,’ for its realistic, suspenseful escape-room challenges. After four seasons and a temporary halt following Jung’s departure from CJ ENM, the program was revived last July on TVING in a refreshed format. The new version achieved notable success, ranking first for four consecutive weeks in paid subscriptions.
With director Lee Woo Hyung expected to return, Season 6 promises to continue the show’s signature adventure-variety style while adapting to cast changes, including the absence of Yeo Jin Goo. Fans and viewers are anticipating how the series will evolve, balancing familiar faces with potential new participants, as it resumes production for another season of thrilling escapes.
