In a recent interview, former Stray Kids member Kim Woojin revealed that watching EXO’s debut stage heavily influenced his decision to pursue a career in K-pop as an idol.
During the interview with OSEN, Kim Woojin shared insights into his music journey, including his inspirations and aspirations as a soloist after leaving Stray Kids. Woojin made a comeback on April 22 with his 3rd mini-album, “I LIKE THE WAY,” marking a new beginning in his musical career with a focus on personal growth and positive energy.
Reflecting on his early aspirations, Woojin acknowledged that while he always dreamed of becoming a musician, it was EXO’s sparkling debut performance that made him consider the possibility of joining an idol group. He recalled watching EXO’s ‘MAMA’ stage and being struck by how cool and enjoyable idol performances could be.
“I wanted to become a solo singer, and if I could become a really good idol, I wouldn’t rule it out, so I was singing hard. A really good opportunity came to me so I started. I don’t think I would have started if it wasn’t for that good chance,” shared Woojin during the interview.
Kim Woojin joined JYP Entertainment’s Stray Kids in 2018 after training to become an idol. Despite his departure from the group in 2019 due to personal reasons, Woojin has continued to pursue his passion for music as a soloist, supported by dedicated fans who appreciate his talents.
