TWICE member Chaeyoung will be temporarily stepping away from activities through the remainder of the year due to health concerns.
On November 20, JYP Entertainment released an official statement providing an update on Chaeyoung’s condition. According to the agency, the singer was recently diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, a condition that can cause sudden fainting episodes due to a drop in heart rate and blood pressure. Following medical consultations, Chaeyoung was advised to take time off to rest and focus on her recovery.
The agency explained that after further evaluations and discussions based on medical advice, it was determined that the artist requires additional time to recover properly. As a result, Chaeyoung will temporarily pause her activities until the end of the year in order to prioritize her health and rest.
Due to this decision, her participation in some of TWICE’s upcoming schedules will be limited. The agency noted that while she may take part in certain activities to a small extent depending on her condition, she may also be absent from several commitments moving forward.
One of the most notable changes affects TWICE’s ongoing “THIS IS FOR” world tour. Because of her health situation, Chaeyoung will not be able to perform at the tour’s upcoming stops in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
JYP Entertainment shared that Chaeyoung herself feels deeply disappointed about missing these performances and expressed sincere apologies to fans for not being able to participate in fan events and the “THIS IS FOR” world tour since October.
The company also acknowledged that the news may worry fans, but emphasized that Chaeyoung’s health and recovery remain the top priority. JYP Entertainment stated that it will continue to provide full support so that the artist can rest properly and return in good health.
The agency’s full English statement is as follows:
