YG Entertainment has officially announced a landmark cultural collaboration between world-renowned girl group BLACKPINK and MU:DS, the official product brand of the National Museum of Korea Foundation.
Created to celebrate BLACKPINK’s upcoming milestone 10th anniversary since their August 2016 debut, the special collaboration is officially titled the BLACKPINK Heritage Collection.
The joint project developed under an overarching creative concept:
“Time accumulates to become value- Heritage, Where Time Becomes Value.”
The upcoming merchandise line combines traditional South Korean heritage artifacts with BLACKPINK’s modern global branding.
Among the primary artistic inspirations for the product line is the historic Pattern for Queen’s Ceremonial Robe, a national artifact preserved at the museum.
The collection reinterprets these traditional court motifs through a contemporary aesthetic, blending gold-embroidery patterns and heritage symbols with BLACKPINK’s signature pink and black color palette across lifestyle goods and limited-edition keepsakes.
Launch Timeline, Cultural Context, and Varied Fandom Responses to the Anniversary Rollout
The official release for the BLACKPINK Heritage Collection is set for August 8, 2026, aligning directly with the group’s exact 10th anniversary debut date.
This project builds upon a pre-existing relationship between the group and the National Museum of Korea.
Previously, during the promotional campaign for their EP DEADLINE, BLACKPINK members recorded official audio docent guides for major museum artifacts and illuminated the museum’s outer facade in vibrant pink light to raise cultural awareness among international visitors.
Despite widespread acclaim for the artistic quality and cultural promotion embedded in the MU:DS partnership, the announcement has drawn mixed reactions across the global fan community.
While many fans commended the group for promoting traditional Korean heritage on an international stage, others voiced frustration over YG Entertainment’s primary focus on commemorative merchandise rather than musical releases or group live broadcasts.
As August 8 approaches, global interest in the limited-edition drop remains exceptionally high.
The collaboration stands as a distinct cross-over between contemporary global music and traditional heritage, capping off a decade of industry achievements for BLACKPINK as they mark ten years together.
