Brian Joo, member of the R&B duo Fly to the Sky, has revealed that he was physically assaulted by a music show camera director early in his career. The story surfaced on January 5 during his appearance on a YouTube video hosted by Eunhyuk and Donghae.
While watching old footage from his debut era, Brian shared that he had once been instructed by a camera director to hold a camera and rap during a live broadcast. However, the director failed to inform his superior about the plan. After the performance ended, a senior camera director confronted Brian backstage. According to Brian, the man grabbed him by the collar and hit him, shouting angrily under the mistaken belief that Brian had handled the camera without authorization.
Brian explained that his parents had flown in from the United States that day, making the incident even more shocking and upsetting. Although the director later issued an apology, it was directed to Brian’s agency rather than to him personally. His bandmate Hwanhee noted that as rookies at the time, they felt powerless to respond.
Brian debuted in 1999 and rose to fame with hits such as “Sea of Love” and “Missing You.” Today, he remains active in entertainment as a television personality and host, continuing to connect with fans through various platforms.
