The Korean entertainment industry has faced numerous high-profile scandals over the years, from the Produce 101 voting manipulation controversy to the Burning Sun sex crimes case. In many instances, celebrities caught in controversy either disappear from public life or attempt to rebuild their careers after issuing apologies. Actor Go Se Won is one such figure whose career was significantly affected by personal allegations made public in 2021.

That year, reports surfaced accusing an unnamed “Actor K” of abandoning his ex-girlfriend during her pregnancy and allegedly threatening legal action when she asked him to delete private photos. As speculation grew, Go Se Won stepped forward to identify himself as the individual in question. Through his agency at the time, Hunus Entertainment, he released a formal statement addressing the allegations and revealing aspects of his private life.

Go Se Won Apologizes Publicly as Acting Career Remains Uncertain

In his statement, Go Se Won disclosed that he had divorced in 2017 but had chosen not to announce it publicly because he had hoped for reconciliation. He also confirmed that he had dated the woman who made the accusations for approximately three months after the divorce. He apologized to her directly and stated that he would take responsibility for the matters he should be accountable for. He further expressed regret for causing concern and inconvenience to the public.

Before the controversy, Go Se Won had built a steady career in television, appearing in supporting roles in popular dramas such as What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? and The Last Empress, along with numerous other K-Dramas and stage productions. However, since the allegations became public, he has been absent from television series, films, and musical theatre for the past two years.

It remains unclear whether he has retired from acting or is simply taking an extended hiatus. Notably, he is no longer listed as an artist under Hunus Entertainment. Although he briefly resurfaced on Instagram in 2025, he has not posted since June of that year, leaving his professional future uncertain.
