The anticipation for OH MY GIRL leader Hyojung’s solo return has reached a new high following the release of her first set of concept photos.

On May 12, 2026, WM Entertainment took to the group’s official social media channels to reveal a series of “first-love” themed images that have captivated fans globally.

These photos serve as the first visual glimpse into her upcoming digital single, Purple Note, which is scheduled for release on May 21 at 6 p.m. KST.

The imagery perfectly aligns with the nostalgic and autobiographical nature of the project, setting a sentimental tone for her first solo music in nearly a year and a half.

In the released images, Hyojung is seen embodying a “youth film” aesthetic, sporting a neat school uniform and a classic ponytail.

The setting- a classroom bathed in warm, natural sunlight- complements her signature bright smile and fresh visual appeal.

An official from WM Entertainment commented on the artistic direction, stating,

“We are showcasing a fresh first-love visual for Hyojung’s comeback, and while the response has been positive, we ask fans to stay tuned for the second concept photo which has not been confirmed for release yet.”

This “youthful” concept is not merely a stylistic choice; it is a direct nod to the core inspiration behind the single itself.

“Purple Note”: A Sincere Reflection on Musical Beginnings

The title of the digital single, Purple Note, carries deep personal significance for Hyojung.

It was inspired by the name of the band club she fronted as a vocalist during her high school years.

By naming her first official digital single after her teenage band, Hyojung intends to revisit the “starting point” of her journey as a musician.

This autobiographical approach is further emphasized by her extensive involvement in the production process; reports confirm that Hyojung participated in writing and composing all the tracks on the single, including the title song, “To My Youth.”

The tracklist, which was teased on May 11 via a purple-accented sheet music design, includes three tracks:

  • “To My Youth” (Title Track)
  • “Look Around”
  • “To My Little Youth” (Instrumental)

This release marks her first solo venture since the special single “Christmas Night Train” in December 2024.

For the past decade, Hyojung has been recognized for her stable, “honey-like” vocals as the leader of OH MY GIRL.

However, Purple Note is expected to showcase a more vulnerable and expanded musical spectrum.

By blending her high school memories with her current emotional maturity, Hyojung aims to deliver a “sincere message” to listeners who have followed her career from her early days to her current status as a veteran idol.

The timing of this solo comeback is also strategically significant. It precedes OH MY GIRL’s planned full-group activities, which are expected to take place in the first half of 2026.

As fans celebrate the 11th anniversary of the group’s debut, Hyojung’s solo project acts as a beautiful bridge, celebrating her individual growth while building momentum for the group’s collective return.

With the release date of May 21 fast approaching, the “Purple Note” era is already proving to be a heartwarming tribute to the enduring power of music and memory.
