Legendary first-generation K-pop girl group Fin.K.L has officially announced that all four original members will reunite for a full-group comeback, marking a monumental return to the music industry after more than two decades.

On September 21, 2026, entertainment agency GEMSTONE E&M formally declared that it has partnered with Lee Hyori, Ock Joo-hyun, Lee Jin, and Sung Yu-ri to manage, curate, and support their upcoming collective schedule.

This historic announcement ends an unprecedented 21-year hiatus from official, continuous group operations, reigniting nostalgia across multiple generations of K-pop enthusiasts and setting the stage for a grand second chapter in the quartet’s legendary career.

A Sustainable Chapter Built Beyond Temporary Reunions

While Fin.K.L previously came together in 2019 to film the highly acclaimed JTBC reality television program Camping Club, which was accompanied by the special release single “Should Shall We”, that effort served primarily as a broadcast-linked anniversary event.

The newly structured partnership with GEMSTONE E&M represents a fundamentally different and far more permanent undertaking.

Representatives from the agency emphasized that this agreement is not a fleeting project, stating that the project represents “a fresh start for sustainable activities” designed to maintain continuous group promotions, new musical releases, and direct interactions with fans under the official group name.

This upcoming return marks Fin.K.L’s first formal, continuous group comeback since their 2005 digital single album Forever Fin.K.L.

Over the past two decades, each member pursued highly successful individual paths while preserving their deep bond.

Lee Hyori established herself as an iconic solo artist, cultural trendsetter, and broadcast personality; Ock Joo-hyun rose to become one of South Korea’s most respected and top-grossing musical theater stars; Lee Jin built a career as a respected television actress before moving abroad; and Sung Yu-ri established a strong profile in both acting and variety show hosting.

Unifying these four distinct, highly accomplished schedules under a single agency banner reflects their strong shared commitment to their original foundation.

Member Reflections and the Enduring Legacy of K-Pop Trailblazers

The excitement surrounding the announcement was further amplified by direct responses from the group members themselves, who took to social media to share their joy with their fanbase.

Main vocalist Ock Joo-hyun personally celebrated the news online by posting a symbolic excerpt from the lyrics of their famous hit single “NOW”, accompanying the post with the heartfelt caption,

“Just like the dream I’ve always hoped for”.

She further engaged with emotional fans by promising that she would personally assist in designing and preparing beautiful new official lightsticks to ensure that supporters are fully equipped for their upcoming live performances.

Debuting in 1998 under DSP Media, Fin.K.L- an acronym standing for Fine Klling Liberty- stood as one of the defining forces of the late 1990s and early 2000s Korean music scene.

Alongside contemporary peers like S.E.S. and Baby V.O.X., Fin.K.L established the framework for modern female K-pop idol groups.

They achieved massive commercial success with a string of timeless hit singles including “Blue Rain,” “To My Boyfriend,” “Eternal Love,” and “NOW,” earning numerous Grand Prizes (Daesangs) and becoming the first female group to win a Daesang at the prestigious Seoul Music Awards.

As preparations begin for their long-awaited return, Fin.K.L’s planned comeback stands as a historic bridge connecting the roots of first-generation K-pop with the global industry of today.
