On March 3, K-pop star Park Bom released a heartfelt letter addressing long-standing controversies and clarifying her current well-being. Opening with “To the people of the nation,” she assured fans that she is not ill and has been doing well, but wanted to discuss a matter she described as “careful and frightening.” Central to her statement was her medical use of Adderall for attention deficit disorder (ADD), emphasizing that the medication is not a narcotic.
In a startling revelation, Park Bom claimed that fellow 2NE1 member Sandara Park was involved in a drug-related incident, and that she herself had been wrongly framed as a “drug addict” to cover it up. She noted that at the time, Korea had no specific laws regulating Adderall, and regulations were only introduced after her case received public attention. Park Bom also addressed her former agency, requesting that Yang Hyun-suk, producer Teddy, and CL refrain from reporting alleged overuse of medication, a claim she denies having committed in her 30 years of treatment.
Her letter revisited the 2010 allegations when she was accused of smuggling amphetamine-containing medication from the U.S. Prosecutors suspended the indictment, recognizing the drugs were for legitimate medical purposes.
Park Bom also addressed financial disputes, claiming that YG Entertainment and former CEO Yang Hyun-suk had withheld profits from her 2NE1 activities, including music releases, concerts, broadcasts, and advertisements. She alleged significant financial damages and accused the agency of fraud and embezzlement. D-Nation Entertainment countered that all settlements had been completed, no formal complaint was filed, and that Park Bom had suspended activities to prioritize recovery and emotional stability.
Debuting with 2NE1 in 2009 under YG Entertainment, Park Bom continued her solo career under D-Nation after the group’s 2016 disbandment. Despite briefly reconnecting with 2NE1, she has remained on hiatus since August 2025 due to health concerns. Her letter provides rare insight into her personal and professional struggles, addressing both public misconceptions and long-standing grievances.
