Actress Yoon Chaekyung and former South Korean national badminton player Lee Yong Dae are reportedly in a relationship, according to a recent media report.
On November 19, a news outlet reported that Yoon Chaekyung and Lee Yong Dae have been dating for approximately one year. The report drew attention due to the pair’s backgrounds in different fields of the entertainment and sports industries.
Following the report, Yoon Chaekyung’s agency, PA Entertainment, issued a brief response addressing the dating rumors. However, the company did not confirm the relationship and instead offered a cautious statement regarding the matter.
Responding to the report, the agency stated, “It is difficult to confirm as this pertains to the actress’s private life.”
Yoon Chaekyung first entered the entertainment industry through her activities in Japan, where she debuted as a member of the girl group Puretty.
She later gained wider recognition in South Korea after appearing as a DSP Media trainee on the MBC survival program “Kara Project,” which was created to select a new member for the girl group KARA. She also appeared on Mnet’s competitive idol survival show “Produce 101,” where she continued to build public recognition.
After the survival programs, Yoon Chaekyung participated in project groups C.I.V.A and I.B.I, both of which were formed through variety and survival show activities. In November 2016, she officially joined the girl group APRIL, becoming part of the lineup during the group’s later promotions.
APRIL remained active for several years before the group ultimately announced its disbandment in January 2022. Following the group’s conclusion, Yoon Chaekyung shifted her focus toward acting and began building a career in television dramas. She has since appeared in projects including the historical drama “Korea-Khitan War” as well as the series “The Confidence Queen,” continuing to expand her presence in the acting field.
Meanwhile, Lee Yong Dae is widely recognized as one of South Korea’s most accomplished badminton players. During his athletic career, he gained significant popularity both domestically and internationally due to his achievements and performances in major competitions.
Lee Yong Dae previously married actress Byun Soo Mi in 2017 after the couple had dated for six years. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2018, approximately one year later. At the time, it was reported that the separation occurred due to differences in personality. Since the divorce, Lee Yong Dae has been raising his daughter as a single parent.
