Emma Song, the youngest member of the dance team WANT from Street Woman Fighter, became the center of a legal dispute with her former agency, Dread Alliance, following her rise to fame. According to Korean media reports, Dread Alliance filed a lawsuit against Emma seeking damages, claiming she violated her exclusive trainee contract signed in 2019. The agency alleged that Emma engaged in activities without approval, including dancing as a backup for idols and appearing on Street Woman Fighter under a dual contract that excluded the agency.
In an official statement on October 5, 2021, Dread Alliance said Emma had unilaterally attempted to void her contract for personal reasons and failed to maintain transparent communication about her projects. The agency claimed her actions caused financial and reputational harm to the debut group she was preparing with, as well as to partner companies. They offered her one final opportunity to honor her contractual obligations, warning that legal action would follow if she refused.

Emma counter-sued, asserting that her contract with Dread Alliance was no longer valid. The court ruled in her favor, granting her full freedom to pursue her career independently. Following the decision, Emma resumed sharing her life and career updates on social media, although she remained largely inactive on Instagram for 17 months between November 2022 and April 2024.
During this time, Emma focused on achieving her goal of becoming an idol. She trained with Big Planet Made’s girl group, BADVILLAIN, preparing for performances and group activities. Her dedication culminated in BADVILLAIN’s comeback in September 2025 with the single “THRILLER,” officially marking her debut in the idol industry.
Emma Song’s experience demonstrates the challenges young performers face within the entertainment industry and the importance of clear contracts and professional accountability. Her legal victory allowed her to take control of her career, and her debut with BADVILLAIN shows her determination to succeed while building on the popularity she gained from Street Woman Fighter.
